The client being a rookie snowboarder himself, wanted to develop an app that could serve as an ultimate platform for snowboarders and skiers to showcase their skills and create an online community for winter sports enthusiasts. The app would not only offer a great platform to those who wish to learn new snowboarding and skiing tricks, but also make these winter games more enjoyable and interesting.
Building a robust, feature-packed and user-friendly native application that supports multimedia content including videos, images, animations and more, required careful planning and a well-defined roadmap. The app was to be made available to both iOS and Android users, allowing seamless social media and database integration.
After evaluating the project requirements, challenges and scope we charted out a detailed roadmap to achieve the objectives. Our developers followed an agile approach and adhered to proven strategies to make sure that the apps delivered duly met industry standards. To build iRide, we leveraged advanced technologies such as Objective C, Swift for iOS app development and Android Java for Android app development respectively.
Create a video of the trick, upload it on iRide and share it with fellow iRide users to get ratings and start getting rewarded.
IRide users get to create their own friend list when using the app and get regular news updates whenever a new video is uploaded by fellow iRide users.
The app showcases structured progression lists that allow iRiders to keep a track of improvements made in their skills over time on local, national and global levels.
Users can add location and description when uploading a trick video. This will help them to appeal to more users and rank high on progression lists.
Users get to challenge each other and get ratings for the tricks they upload on the scale of 1-10. Videos with maximum up-votes is declared the winner. Battles assigned by the system helps iRiders to face new challenges, learn new skills and gain more points.
Top rated tricks are displayed on the leaderboard for users to view and learn. The more finessed the trick the more points it will attract.
The app allows users to track and measure their performance on diverse parameters such as elevation, altitude, speed, vertical drop, etc., and get rewarded for exceptional performance.
Users can search for popular snowboarding locations, resorts, get live weather updates and also book accommodation in just a few clicks. There is also an option to tag the name of the resort while uploading a video.
